We Get Rid Of The Junk Orbiting Around Your Space!

|

Do you have a old sofa, dining table, chair, or other piece of furniture that you have no idea what to do with? Perhaps you’ve recently purchased new furniture that better fits your space or your design aesthetic, and you’re now faced with the task of getting rid of the old furniture. Maybe you're looking for ways to breathe new life into your existing furniture to make it last longer. Or maybe you have a piece of furniture that is damaged, but throwing it out means that you need to make a special call to someone who can haul it away for you. Who do you call? What should you do?

If you’ve found yourself in this situation, you’ve come to the right place. Here are four things you can do with old furniture.

1. Sell Old Furniture

Just because a piece of furniture isn’t new doesn’t mean that it no longer has any value. In fact, many older pieces of furniture are highly sought after as vintage pieces. Because it was very common for furniture to be built from solid wood in the past, as opposed to cheaper metal and compressed wood items popular today, older furniture pieces are often very good quality, which is a big selling point to some buyers.

If you have an old piece of furniture that is in good condition, but it no longer fits your home, you might try selling it. There are many places online where you can list your furniture for sale, or you can try a garage sale. Do some research online to get an idea of what price point you can reasonably list your piece for sale.

2. Refinish Old Wooden Furniture

Perhaps you have a piece of old furniture that isn’t ready for the trash, but it’s not in great condition. Maybe it’s got a few dings and gouges, areas of missing paint, or a coffee ring stain that has soaked through the wood. If the piece is otherwise in decent, sturdy condition, refinishing is a great option. If you’re feeling crafty, you can strip off any finish, sand it down to the bare wood, and apply a new coat of stain or paint. Depending on what type of furniture you’re refinishing, you may also consider additional finishing touches like new knobs, decorative wooden appliques, or patterned drawer liner. You’ll be amazed at how a little creativity can transform an old piece of furniture into something modern, eclectic, and totally unique.

3. Donate Excess Furniture

Have you upgraded your living room furniture or swapped your old dining set for a new one? If you have more furniture than you need, donation is a wonderful way to support your local community. Call your local donation center and ask them what their donation hours are, whether they have pickup options, and whether they are currently accepting furniture donations (this is especially important if you have a very large and/or heavy piece). You may also wish to check with local churches and charitable organizations to see whether they have any upcoming furniture donation drives on the calendar. Furniture donations can be written off your taxes, so make sure you ask for a receipt if you plan to do so.

4. Schedule a Furniture Pickup with a Junk Removal Company

If you don’t have the time to sell your furniture or the energy to refinish it, a simple solution is to call a local junk removal company to schedule a furniture pickup.
